Why Spay & Neuter

  • Healthier Pets

Reduced risk of cancers & infections.

  • Longer Lives

Pets that are fixed live healthier, happier lives.

  • Safer Communities

Fewer strays means fewer bites, accidents, and suffering.

The Numbers You Need to Know

Behind every statistic is the reality of overcrowded shelters, abandoned litters, and animals in crisis. Overpopulation isn’t just about numbers—it means more pets without homes, more strays on our streets, and more pressure on already limited rescue resources. By choosing to spay or neuter, you’re preventing suffering before it starts.

“Spay and neuter saves lives—it’s the most effective way to stop pet homelessness.”

Benefits for Your Pet

Health

Spaying and neutering greatly lowers the risk of cancers and life-threatening infections. It helps ensure your pet lives a longer, healthier life.

Safety

Fixed pets are less likely to roam, get into fights, or display aggressive behaviours. This means fewer injuries and a safer environment for your pet and others.

Comfort

Eliminating heat cycles prevents the stress, behavioural changes, and unwanted attention that come with them. Your pet will be more relaxed and content at home.

Savings

Preventing future medical problems saves you from expensive vet bills down the road. Spay and neuter is a one-time investment that pays off for life.

Our Community Impact

  • Fewer Strays

By reducing unwanted litters, EARS’ spay and neuter program lowers the number of stray and feral animals. This helps prevent suffering and makes our community safer.

  • Relief for Shelters

With fewer unwanted litters, local shelters and rescues can focus resources on animals truly in need. This improves overall care and adoption chances.

  • Safer Streets

Controlling overpopulation decreases the number of animals roaming near roads or unfamiliar areas. This reduces car accidents, bite incidents, and other safety concerns.

  • Focused Care

Preventing litters allows more time, space, and funding for animals with urgent medical or behavioural needs. Every pet receives the attention and support they deserve.

~ Betty White ~

“If everyone took personal responsibility for their animals, we wouldn't have a lot of the animal problems that we do. I'm a big spay-and-neuter supporter. Don't have babies if you're not going to take care of those babies. We don't need more. We just need to take care of the ones we have. Take responsibility and breathe kindness.”
